It is now the 32nd time that we are marking the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, and every year we wish it was the last. This year’s global theme is “Unite!” and that is exactly what we are encouraging community groups, organizations and governments to do this year. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign started in 1991 and was led by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. Since 1991, 5,167 groups in 187 countries have contributed to promoting and supporting these 16 Days that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. Join us as we call for global actions to increase awareness, galvanize advocacy efforts, and share knowledge and innovations!
